PIPFF1000 Flange Facer

The PIINC PIPFF1000 Portable Flange Facer is an internally mounted flange machining machine designed for on-site facing, beveling, turning, sealing groove machining, counterboring, and heat exchanger repair. With a facing range of 150–1000 mm (6–40 inches) and a clamping range of 150–860 mm (6–34 inches), the PIPFF1000 provides a versatile solution for maintaining and repairing large-diameter flanges in industrial applications.

Designed for field machining, the PIPFF1000 can machine pipe, valve, and pump flanges, including raised-face (RF) surfaces, O-ring grooves, lens-ring grooves, and RTJ (Ring Type Joint) grooves. It also supports weld preparation and other suitable flange machining operations.

The machine features a modular structural design, a three-piece mounting system, quick-set adjustable mounting components, and jacking legs to help simplify installation and alignment. Its swivel toolpost supports groove and bevel machining, while continuous geared feeds are provided for facing and boring operations.

Powered by a 1.7 kW (2.2 HP) pneumatic motor, the PIPFF1000 is designed for on-site machining where accurate flange surface preparation and repair are required.

Key Features and Benefits

1. Large-Diameter Flange Machining

With a facing range of 150–1000 mm (6–40 inches), the PIPFF1000 is designed for machining large-diameter flange surfaces. Its internal mounting configuration supports on-site machining of compatible pipe, valve, and pump flanges.

2. Versatile Flange Facing and Groove Machining

The PIPFF1000 supports a variety of machining operations, including:

• Raised-face (RF) flange facing

• O-ring groove machining

• Lens-ring groove machining

• RTJ groove machining

• Weld preparation

• Beveling and turning

• Counterboring

• Heat exchanger repair

This range of capabilities makes the PIPFF1000 suitable for diverse flange maintenance and repair requirements.

3. Three-Piece Mounting System

The machine features a three-piece mounting base assembly with steel threaded inserts and adjustable feet. This configuration helps operators center and level the machine during installation.

The mounting system is designed for flange diameters from 150 mm (6 inches) to 1000 mm (40 inches), while the specified clamping range is 150–860 mm (6–34 inches).

4. Quick-Set Adjustable Mounting Components and Jacking Legs

Quick-set adjustable components and jacking legs support machine positioning and alignment. These features help simplify setup before machining and accommodate the mounting requirements of different workpieces.

5. Swivel Toolpost for Grooves and Bevels

The swivel toolpost supports groove machining and beveling operations, allowing the machine to handle different flange surface profiles and preparation requirements.

6. Continuous Geared Facing and Boring Feeds

The PIPFF1000 features continuous geared feeds for facing and boring operations. These feed functions support controlled tool movement during machining.

7. Modular Structural Design

The machine uses a modular structural design with high-strength materials. This construction is intended to support machining stability and accuracy during on-site flange repair.

8. Pneumatic Drive Power

The PIPFF1000 is powered by a 1.7 kW (2.2 HP) pneumatic motor, providing the drive power for its specified machining operations.

9. Specified Machining Accuracy and Cutting Depth

The product specifications state a flatness better than 0.02 mm at a 762 mm (30-inch) diameter. The specified maximum cutting depths are:

• Flanges without bolt holes: Up to 2 mm (0.079 inches)

• Flanges with bolt holes: Up to 0.2 mm

These figures provide reference values for evaluating the machine's machining capabilities under suitable operating conditions.

10. Efficient Setup and Installation

The PIPFF1000 uses quick-mount components to simplify installation. According to the original product description, an experienced operator can complete the mounting process within approximately one hour when following the appropriate operating procedure. Actual setup time depends on the installation conditions and workpiece configuration.
