PIPFF1270 Flange Facer

The PIINC PIPFF1270 Heavy-Duty Portable Flange Facer is designed for on-site machining of large-diameter flanges, helping restore flange faces, sealing grooves, and other critical sealing surfaces efficiently and cost-effectively. Featuring a heavy-duty spindle and rotating arm, the PIPFF1270 is engineered to provide stability during cutting and support accurate machining in demanding field conditions.

With a facing range of 14–50 inches and a clamping range of 14–44 inches, the PIPFF1270 is suitable for machining standard and compact flange faces, O-ring grooves, lens-ring grooves, RTJ (Ring Type Joint) grooves, V-grooves, and weld preparations.

The machine features two mounting bases, quick-set adjustable mounting components, jacking legs, and a swivel toolpost for groove and bevel machining. It is powered by a 2.2 HP pneumatic motor and can be configured with optional heat exchanger mounting and back-facing kits for specialized flange machining applications.

Key Features and Benefits

1. Heavy-Duty Spindle for Stable Machining

The PIPFF1270 features a robust, heavy-duty spindle designed to provide stability during cutting. This construction supports precision machining in challenging working conditions, including vertical and upside-down orientations.

2. Large-Diameter Flange Facing Capability

With a facing range of 14–50 inches, the PIPFF1270 is designed for on-site machining and resurfacing of large-diameter flange faces. Its portable configuration allows suitable machining work to be carried out at the installation site.

3. Versatile Flange Facing and Groove Machining

The PIPFF1270 supports a range of flange machining operations, including:

• Standard flange facing

• Compact flange facing

• O-ring groove machining

• Lens-ring groove machining

• RTJ groove machining

• V-groove machining

• Weld preparation

• Beveling and sealing-surface repair

This versatility makes the machine suitable for a range of flange maintenance and repair requirements.

4. Two-Piece Mounting Base Assembly

The machine is equipped with two mounting bases, adjustable legs, and jacking legs to support installation and positioning. The mounting system is designed for flange diameters from 350 mm to 1270 mm, helping operators set up the machine for different on-site machining tasks.

5. Quick-Set Adjustable Mounting Components

Quick-set adjustable components and jacking legs help simplify machine installation and positioning. These features support efficient setup before machining and help establish the required alignment.

6. Swivel Toolpost for Grooves and Bevels

The swivel toolpost supports groove and bevel machining, allowing the PIPFF1270 to handle different flange surface profiles and sealing features.

7. Optional Heat Exchanger Mounting Kit

An optional heat exchanger mounting kit is available to facilitate installation of the flange facer on compatible heat exchangers. This configuration supports flange resurfacing on the outer diameter and on the back, lower, or top side of the heat exchanger, according to the selected setup.

8. Optional Back-Facing Kit

The optional back-facing kit expands the machine's configuration options for applications requiring machining of flange surfaces that are difficult to access with a standard setup.

9. Pneumatic Drive for On-Site Machining

The PIPFF1270 is driven by a 2.2 HP pneumatic motor. The specified maximum cutting depths are:

• Flanges without bolt holes: Up to 2 mm (0.079 inches)

• Flanges with bolt holes: Up to 0.5 mm (0.020 inches)

These values provide reference limits for planning flange resurfacing operations.
