PIPLB90 Line Boring Machine

The PIINC PIPLB90 Portable Line Boring Machine is a modular, heavy-duty portable machining system designed for large-diameter bore repair and machining of oversized industrial components. With a boring diameter range of Ø95–700 mm, a boring stroke of 900 mm, and boring bar lengths of up to 8,000 mm, the PIPLB90 is suitable for demanding applications involving large steel structures, mining machinery, and heavy construction equipment.

Its modular construction allows the rotational drive unit and feed unit to be positioned at different locations along the boring bar, providing flexibility for complex machining setups. The machine is designed for on-site repair and workshop production, making it suitable for applications involving cranes, excavators, bulldozers, tractors, backhoes, and large structural components.

The PIPLB90 is also used by mining machinery manufacturers for workshop production of large steel structures, demonstrating its suitability for applications that require extended boring reach and adaptable machine configurations.

Key Features and Benefits

1. Large-Diameter Boring Capacity

The PIPLB90 supports boring diameters from Ø95 mm to Ø700 mm, making it suitable for machining large bores in heavy machinery and industrial structures. Its 900 mm boring stroke provides a substantial working range for applicable machining operations.

With boring bar lengths of up to 8 metres, the system can be configured for long-reach machining applications where extended access is required.

2. Compact and Modular Design

Despite its large machining capacity, the PIPLB90 uses a modular design to facilitate installation, positioning, and removal. The rotational drive unit and feed unit can be mounted at different positions along the boring bar, allowing operators to adapt the configuration to the workpiece and available working space.

The stepless feed adjustment range of 0–0.5 mm, together with forward and reverse operation, provides flexibility when setting up machining operations.

3. High-Strength Alloy Steel Boring Bar

The PIPLB90 uses a boring bar manufactured from high-quality alloy structural steel, designed to provide the strength and rigidity required for large-scale machining applications.

Boring bar lengths can reach 8,000 mm, supporting extended-reach machining of large industrial components and steel structures. This makes the PIPLB90 suitable for applications where conventional machining equipment may have difficulty accommodating the workpiece dimensions.

4. Four Mounting Kit Options

The PIPLB90 offers four mounting kit configurations to accommodate different installation requirements:

• Double-Arm Mounting Kit: For applicable boring setups requiring a double-arm mounting arrangement.

• Three-Arm Mounting Kit: Provides an alternative mounting configuration for different workpiece geometries.

• ID Mounting Kit: Designed for internal-diameter mounting applications.

• Adjustable ID Mounting Kit: Offers adjustable internal-diameter mounting to accommodate varying setup requirements.

These mounting options allow the machine to be configured for different workpieces and machining environments.

5. Servo and Hydraulic Drive Options

The PIPLB90 is available with two types of drive power units: servo and hydraulic. This gives users flexibility when selecting a drive configuration for their machining requirements.

The hydraulic power unit can deliver torque of up to 1,420 N·m, supporting demanding large-scale boring applications.

The choice of drive system allows the PIPLB90 to be configured according to the intended application and operating requirements.

6. Flexible Facing, Groove, and Bevel Machining

The PIPLB90 incorporates several features to support different machining operations:

• Quick-Set Adjustable Clamping Jaws: Facilitate adjustment during machine installation.

• Swivel Toolpost: Supports groove machining and bevel machining.

• Continuous Groove Geared Feed: Provides geared feed functions for facing and boring operations.

• Optional Facing Heads: Two facing head sizes are available to accommodate different facing requirements.

These capabilities extend the machine's usefulness beyond basic line boring and support a wider range of machining tasks.

7. Optional Taper Boring Capability

An optional taper boring attachment enables machining of tapered holes with 1:12 and 1:20 taper ratios. This accessory expands the PIPLB90's application range for components requiring specific tapered bore geometries.

Combined with the available mounting kits and facing heads, the optional taper boring attachment provides additional flexibility for specialized machining requirements.
