PIPFF305 Compact Flange Facer

The PIINC PIPFF305 Compact Flange Facer is a portable flange facing machine designed for on-site machining in confined spaces. With a minimum swing diameter of just 360 mm, it is well suited for flange maintenance and repair where working clearance is limited.

The PIPFF305 machines a range of flange faces and sealing features, including standard and compact flange facings, RTJ (Ring Type Joint) grooves, lens-ring grooves, V-grooves, and weld preparations. Its compact modular design, quick-set adjustable clamping jaws, and preset toolpost positions support flexible setup for different machining operations.

Powered by a 0.8 kW (1.2 HP) pneumatic motor, the PIPFF305 provides on-site cutting capability without requiring the flange to be transported to a workshop. Its two lead screws and adjustable mounting system help operators configure the machine for different flange machining requirements.

Key Features and Benefits

1. Compact Design for Confined Spaces

The PIPFF305 is designed for flange machining in restricted working areas. Its minimum swing diameter of 360 mm makes it suitable for applications where larger flange facing machines may be difficult to accommodate.

2. Versatile Flange Facing and Groove Machining

The PIPFF305 supports a variety of on-site machining operations, including:

• Standard flange facing

• Compact flange facing

• RTJ groove machining

• Lens-ring groove machining

• V-groove machining

• Weld preparation

This versatility makes the machine suitable for different flange resurfacing and sealing-surface preparation requirements.

3. Quick-Set Adjustable Clamping Jaws

The quick-set adjustable clamping jaws help simplify machine installation and positioning. The mounting system is designed to accommodate flange diameters from 2 to 12 inches, supporting flexible setup across the specified machining range.

4. Preset Toolpost Positions

The toolpost features preset positions at 0°, 23°, and −23°. These positions support different machining configurations for flange facing and groove-related operations.

5. Two Lead Screws for Flexible Machining

The PIPFF305 is equipped with two lead screws, providing flexibility when configuring the machine for different machining tasks.

6. High-Strength Modular Construction

The machine features a modular design and high-strength materials intended to support machining accuracy. Its base assembly includes two high-strength alloy structural steel mounting bases with steel threaded inserts and adjustable feet.

These adjustable feet help the operator level and center the machine on the flange for the intended machining operation.

7. Quick Installation and Setup

The PIPFF305 uses independently designed quick-mount components to simplify installation. According to the original product description, an experienced operator can complete the mounting process within approximately one hour when following the appropriate operating procedure. Actual setup time will depend on the installation conditions and operator experience.

8. Pneumatic Drive Power

The machine is driven by a 0.8 kW (1.2 HP) pneumatic motor. The specified maximum cutting depth is:

• Flanges without bolt holes: Up to 2 mm (0.079 in)

• Flanges with bolt holes: Up to 0.5 mm (0.020 in)

These limits provide reference values for planning flange facing operations.
