PIPFF1650 Flange Facer

The PIINC PIPFF1650 Heavy-Duty Portable Flange Facer is designed for on-site machining of large-diameter flanges, helping restore flange faces, sealing grooves, and other critical sealing surfaces efficiently and cost-effectively. Featuring a heavy-duty spindle and bearings, the PIPFF1650 is built to support powerful, precise machining in demanding field conditions, including vertical and upside-down working orientations.

With a facing range of 20–65 inches and a clamping range of 20–59 inches, the PIPFF1650 is suitable for machining standard and compact flange faces, O-ring grooves, lens-ring grooves, RTJ (Ring Type Joint) grooves, V-grooves, and weld preparations.

The machine features adjustable mounting components, a swivel toolpost, and a multi-piece mounting base assembly to support installation and alignment. Powered by a 2.9 HP pneumatic motor, the PIPFF1650 provides a portable solution for flange resurfacing and groove machining at the job site. Optional heat exchanger mounting and back-facing kits expand its configuration options for specialized machining applications.

Key Features and Benefits

1. Heavy-Duty Spindle and Bearings

The PIPFF1650 features a heavy-duty spindle and bearing assembly designed to provide stable, precise machining performance under demanding on-site conditions. Its robust construction supports flange machining in different working orientations, including vertical and upside-down positions.

2. Large-Diameter Flange Facing Capability

With a facing range of 20–65 inches, the PIPFF1650 is designed for on-site machining and resurfacing of large-diameter flange faces. Its portable configuration supports field maintenance where machining at the installation site is preferred.

3. Versatile Flange Facing and Groove Machining

The PIPFF1650 supports a variety of flange machining operations, including:

• Standard flange facing

• Compact flange facing

• O-ring groove machining

• Lens-ring groove machining

• RTJ groove machining

• V-groove machining

• Weld preparation

• Machining of other suitable flange surfaces

This versatility makes the machine suitable for different flange resurfacing and sealing-surface repair requirements.

4. Multi-Piece Mounting Base Assembly

The PIPFF1650 uses a mounting base assembly with high-strength mounting components, steel threaded inserts, and adjustable feet to help center and level the machine during installation.

The source describes a three-piece high-strength mounting base assembly, while the feature list refers to a two-unit mounting base. Confirm the exact configuration with the manufacturer before publication.

5. Adjustable Mounting Components

Quick-set adjustable components and clamping legs help simplify machine installation and positioning. These features support setup across the machine's specified mounting range and help establish alignment before machining.

6. Swivel Toolpost for Grooves and Bevels

The swivel toolpost supports groove and bevel machining, allowing the PIPFF1650 to handle different flange surface profiles and sealing features.

7. Optional Heat Exchanger Mounting Kit

An optional heat exchanger mounting kit is available for compatible applications. It provides additional mounting flexibility when machining heat exchanger tube sheets and related workpieces.

Depending on the selected setup, the machine can be configured to machine the outside diameter and the back or lower face, as well as the top face of a workpiece.

8. Optional Back-Facing Kit

The optional back-facing kit expands the machine's configuration options for machining flange surfaces that may be difficult to access with a standard arrangement.

9. Pneumatic Drive for On-Site Machining

The PIPFF1650 is driven by a 2.9 HP pneumatic motor. The specified maximum cutting depths are:

• Flanges without bolt holes: Up to 2 mm (0.079 inches)

• Flanges with bolt holes: Up to 0.5 mm (0.020 inches)

These specifications provide reference limits for planning flange resurfacing operations.
