PIPFFD1000 OD Mounting Flange Facer

The PIINC PIPFFD1000 OD-Mounted Flange Facer is a portable, gear-driven, single-point machining machine designed for on-site flange facing and flange repair. Its external-mount configuration supports machining of flange faces and sealing features, including O-ring grooves, ring-type joint (RTJ) grooves, V-grooves, lens ring surfaces, weld preparations, and counterbores.

With an OD clamping diameter of 610–1016 mm (24–40 inches) and a facing diameter of 0–1016 mm (0–40 inches), the PIPFFD1000 is designed for a range of flange machining applications. Its modular structure, precision bearings, and stable main body provide support for controlled machining, while multiple adjustable feet and a setting strap help operators position the machine level and centered on the flange face.

Driven by a pneumatic motor, the PIPFFD1000 is designed for field machining applications where compressed air is available. An optional servo drive is also available upon request, providing an alternative drive configuration for specific operating requirements.

Key Features and Benefits

1. External-Mount Design for On-Site Machining

The PIPFFD1000 uses an outside-diameter (OD) mounting arrangement, allowing it to be mounted externally on the flange. Its portable design is suitable for field maintenance and repair where machining needs to be performed at the installation site.

2. Versatile Flange Machining Capability

The gear-driven, single-point machining system is designed to handle a variety of flange repair tasks, including:

• Flange face refacing

• O-ring groove machining

• RTJ groove machining

• V-groove machining

• Lens ring surface machining

• Weld preparation

• Counterboring

3. Precision Bearings and Stable Main Body

Precision bearings and a stable main body support controlled machine movement during machining. The modular structural design and high-strength materials are intended to provide a robust foundation for on-site flange repair work.

4. Adjustable Mounting Feet for Accurate Positioning

The PIPFFD1000 is equipped with multiple adjustable feet and a setting strap to help position the machine level and centered on the flange face. Adjustment legs and jacking legs support installation and alignment, helping simplify setup at the job site.

5. Flexible Mounting Arrangement

Various sizes of mounting feet are available to accommodate different setup requirements. The adjustable mounting arrangement helps operators configure the machine for the flange being machined.

6. Pneumatic Drive System

The PIPFFD1000 is powered by a pneumatic motor. Its air-powered drive can permit use in hazardous areas where pneumatic equipment is appropriate, subject to the site’s safety requirements and applicable regulations.

7. Optional Servo Drive

An optional servo drive is available upon request for applications requiring an alternative drive configuration.

8. Controlled Cutting Depth

The PIPFFD1000 can achieve a maximum cutting depth of 1 mm (0.039 inches) on flanges without bolt holes or 0.5 mm (0.020 inches) on flanges with bolt holes, according to the supplied product specifications.
